I drew up a storyboard; making sure that every different shot was accounted for so that the filming process would be easier step by step. In each shot, I also used direction arrows to show the direction and positioning of the camera in each frame. This would also come in handy if we were to re-shoot any scenes; as we would know exactly where the camera had previously been. Also, by including a short description under each shot allowed us to know exactly what type of shot/zoom would be used.
PAGE 1.
We begin with a black frame with sounds of a car screeching/car crash. That the fades out letting the light in, and then a high angle close up shot comes into focus, showing a boy asleep. The next few shots show him waking up, and getting changed and ready for the day. There is no mention of a car crash throughout any of this so the audience is still left wondering why there was there was a sound of one at the beginning.
PAGE 2.
Now from the second page of shots, the girl character is shown waking up and getting ready the same way that the boy has just been shown. This is linking the two parallel shots together, showing that they are both walking in each others footsteps at different times. A teddy bear is focused on a lot in these scenes, as it proves very significant for the rest of the storyline. The links to this teddy bear are made early, so that connections can be made throughout.
PAGE 3.
Both characters are shown leaving their houses at this stage; with the use of a split screen at one point to show them both on screen at the same time. We see both characters walking towards a shop and buying items, both walking in each others footsteps. They appear to be in sync, but yet they never meet at the destination for obvious reasons. (the different times)
PAGE 4.
Once out of the shop, both characters are shown walking in sync again, ready to cross a road. The boy is shown being aware of his surroundings, whilst the girl crosses without looking properly. There is a flash of white light, and of car headlights. A straight cut then shows the boy arriving at a graveyard to lay down the flowers he's just bought. Although it is not obvious at this stage (as not wanting to give away the storyline) that graveside is in fact his girlfriend's who did not cross the road safely. This fact would be revealed later on in the film, if we were to create the whole feature length movie.
This is just the directors vision. We may swap some of the shots around, or remove others when it comes to the filming.
