Copyrighted Music.

Knowing that we were not allowed to use copyrighted music within our own film, we researched into the copyright law to make sure that everything we included within our work does not go against the service.

To use the work of others we know that we have to gain permission of the work's publisher or main artist, and most definitely do not claim it as your own. However, we have found that there are many un licensed samples online that we could use instead. From this research, we found it will be easier not to use copyrighted music as that would mean waiting for permission replies. We will use the samples that are available to use online; or if needed due to our groups musical ties, we could also create our own soundtrack easily if needed.

If not, we could always as mentioned message them for permission; but also if we were to use copyrighted music, if we wrote alongside this where we got the music from, exactly who it was written and produced by and therefore not claiming it as our own, we would be able to use copyrighted music.

However, after struggling to find original music that would fit our film's atmosphere, we decided to use copyrighted music, knowing that we would first have to ask for permission to use it. I researched into the band we were wanting to use to find out who had published and distributed their music, and having found that information out I emailed the record company that were behind the single we were wishing to use. Due to our limited time, however, I wrote that if they don't reply with a definite answer, we will assume that they have read the email sent and that the music is available to use.

When our rough came to be in the editing process, we still had not heard back from this record company, so we carried on with their music because as mentioned they would of read the email so we assumed everything would be okay. We will make sure that we will credit the music within our opening titles so that our audience knows exactly who wrote it.
